What this site is for
Smithys Rentals is an independent guide to campervan and 4WD hire in Australia. It answers the questions that come before a booking — which depot, which vehicle, which route — and then hands you to the search that holds the actual prices.
How the information is put together
Depot addresses, opening hours and vehicle specifications are read from the operator's own published pages and re-checked before a page is updated. Where a detail could not be confirmed it is left out rather than estimated: there are no prices, review scores or availability claims here, because those move faster than any page can follow them.
Route guides are written for the drive rather than the destination — what the road is like, where a day realistically ends, and what to sort out before you leave town. Where a figure comes from a road authority or a national park, the source is named in the article.
Where bookings happen
Every search on this site hands over to the operator's booking system, which shows live availability, the daily rate for your dates and the extras available on that vehicle. Hire terms, insurance options, cancellation rules and the rental agreement all live there. If something goes wrong with a booking, it is the operator's team you deal with.
About the name
This domain previously carried content under a different brand name. The site now uses Smithys Rentals as its working identity while that history is being confirmed, and it does not claim ownership of, or affiliation with, any brand it links to. Vehicle, depot and booking information belongs to the operator whose system fulfils the hire.
Corrections
Depot hours change, roads close and specifications get revised. If something here is out of date, the booking search and the operator's own depot page are the authority, and the page will be corrected the next time it is checked.
