Collect from Cambridge, Tasmania. This page covers where the depot is, when it is open and what is worth driving to first.
Cambridge is a small town on the eastern shore of the Derwent, between Hobart and the airport, and the depot there sits on the road you would take out of the city towards the east coast. Tasmania rewards a loop rather than a there-and-back, and this is the right corner to start one.
Kennedy Drive is a few minutes from Hobart Airport and about twenty minutes from the city centre, with the Tasman Highway running east towards the Freycinet Peninsula.
Collection happens during the hours listed here, with a walk-around of the vehicle before you drive out so you know where the cooker, water and bedding are. If your flight lands late in the day, say so when you book rather than arriving after the desk closes. After hours collection may be available on request, but it has to be arranged in advance.
The first night usually decides the shape of a trip: too far and you are driving tired, too close and you have spent a day going nowhere. These are the directions worth considering straight out of Cambridge.
Fuel and food are the two things to sort before you leave town. Fill the tank at the last major town on your route rather than assuming the next one is close, and carry more water than you think you need if the drive heads inland. Mobile coverage thins quickly once you are outside the suburbs.
The depot's own page on the booking site carries the map and the operator's current terms: see campervan hire in Hobart.
Published depot hours, checked 7 November 2026. They can change on public holidays.
What is on the ground changes with the season and with what has been returned that week. These are the classes worth asking for from this depot; live availability is in the search above.
