Campervan hire in Broome

Collect from Broome, Western Australia. This page covers where the depot is, when it is open and what is worth driving to first.

Picking up in Broome

Broome is the southern gateway to the Kimberley and the end point of the long run up the WA coast. The depot on Farrell Street is in town, close to Cable Beach and the airport, and the season here is short and specific: the dry season is when the Gibb River Road and the national parks are open.

Farrell Street is a few minutes from Broome International Airport and from Cable Beach, with the Great Northern Highway running south towards Port Hedland and north-east towards Derby and the Gibb River Road.

Collection happens during the hours listed here, with a walk-around of the vehicle before you drive out so you know where the cooker, water and bedding are. If your flight lands late in the day, say so when you book rather than arriving after the desk closes. After hours collection may be available on request, but it has to be arranged in advance.

What to do first from Broome

The first night usually decides the shape of a trip: too far and you are driving tired, too close and you have spent a day going nowhere. These are the directions worth considering straight out of Broome.

  • Cable Beach and the Staircase to the Moon
  • The Gibb River Road and Windjana Gorge
  • Cape Leveque and the Dampier Peninsula

Driving out of Broome

Fuel and food are the two things to sort before you leave town. Fill the tank at the last major town on your route rather than assuming the next one is close, and carry more water than you think you need if the drive heads inland. Mobile coverage thins quickly once you are outside the suburbs.

The depot's own page on the booking site carries the map and the operator's current terms: see campervan hire in Broome.
